Transplantation

A transplant is a medical procedure in which an organ is removed from the body and placed inside the recipient's body to replace damaged or lost organs. Donors and recipients can be in the same place at the same time, or organs can be transported from one donor site to another. A transplant is a surgical procedure that replaces one of your organs with a healthy organ from another person. Surgery is only one step in a lengthy and complicated process. Some specialists will assist you in preparing for the procedure so that you are comfortable before, during, and after the procedure. Nonetheless, the age of the donor determines whether the transplant or the adverse effects on the patient's survival are significant. This age is less than 30 years old for kidney transplants, but heart transplant data show that donors over the age of 40 have a significant impact. Transplant surgery is a surgical specialty in which organs are transplanted from a living or deceased donor to a recipient who requires a fully functional organ.
